And Now It’s Time to Say Goodbye…

Friends,

Two years ago, I saw a need for someone to start spreading the word about great food in Fort Bend County.  So, at the urging of my husband, I started this blog.  I’ve had a great time seeking out dining news and new restaurants and sharing them with you.

The blog has been much quieter over the last several months because our lives have gone in a different direction.  My husband is running for public office and all of our energy has been directed toward his campaign.

Effective April 6, 2014, Fort Bend Food Blog will shut down.  Thank you for all of your support.

Fort Bend Food News: New Restaurants Coming Soon

Seafood fans, hold on to your taste buds!  Two new restaurants are coming soon….

Preview, the newest project from chef Jason Liao will open soon at Highway 6 and Dulles Ave. in Sugar Land.  See more information here.  The restaurant did not open in mid-November as originally planned, but look for updates on the Fort Bend Food Blog Facebook page.

B4-U-Eat.com reports that Regal Seafood House & Lounge is set to open soon in Stafford, off of Highway 59 near Kirkwood (close to the Fountains Shopping Center).  I haven’t been able to find a website or Facebook page for the restaurant.

Houston Restaurant Weeks Are Here! (Updated with Menus!)

Hello friends! hrw_logo_2013

It’s August.  It’s hot.  What’s a hungry Houstonian to do?  The obvious answer is eat!  And this month, you can benefit yourself with some great food while also benefitting the Houston Food Bank during Houston Restaurant WeeksWarning:  The HRW website is, unfortunately, extremely slow!

Throughout the month of August, restaurants all around Houston will offer a special 2- or 3-course menu — often at greatly reduced prices — with a portion of the proceeds from each meal being donated to the Houston Food Bank.  This is a great opportunity to re-visit old favorites or try something brand new!

Participating Fort Bend restaurants are:

Aura

Azuma on the Lake

Blu

Churrascos

Coco Pazzo

Perry’s Katy (same menu in both Katy and Sugar Land)

Ray’s Grill

Tradicao Brazilian Steakhouse

Veritas Steak & Seafood (formerly Post Oak Grill)

Enjoy!

Mother’s Day Dining

keep-calm-and-love-mom-195This Sunday is Mother’s Day!  If your plans include taking Mom out to eat — and you don’t have reservations yet — here are some ideas:

If you want to celebrate with Mom before Sunday, Blu is featuring a four-course, $55 prix fixe dinner menu starting tomorrow (Thursday) through Saturday.  Sunday brunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Diners will receive one free mimosa per entrée, and live jazz music will entertain guests.

Churrasco’s will offer brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.  Mom will also receive a $25 Churrasco’s gift certificate for use at a future meal.

Ray’s Grill will offer a brunch buffet on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  The cost is $35 for adults and $15 for children.

Skeeter’s Mesquite Grill will also feature a brunch buffet, served from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The cost is an economical $10.95 per person, and children under 12 are only $5.95!

Turquoise Grill in Sugar Land Town Square offers a three-course Mother’s Day menu, with prices varying depending upon the entrée.  Main course selections are mixed grill, salmon, and Moroccan chicken.  Moms will receive a complimentary glass of champagne.

Los Tios Mexican Restaurant will offer a special off-the-menu treat for Mom — Pechuga Rellena, a chicken breast stuffed with spinach and cheese.  Yum!

Fish City Grill in Sugar Land Town Square has a special menu for Mother’s Day that features choices such as lobster, surf and turf, and swordfish.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there, most especially my own!
